Results of my R&B Lead Singer survey
Boy, I'm really getting better at hounding people: 142 responses to the survey (as usual, I didn't vote myself). Of course I'm gonna make a program out of this, but instead of voting, I get to pick which songs by the top-rated singers. Watch for the show in the next few months, and thanks to all who voted.

My apologies for the singers who were inadvertently left off the list. Those pointed out to me (and there are probably lots of others) were: Howard Guyton (Pearls), Ray Pollard (Wanderers), Earl Carroll (Cadillacs), Nicky Clark (5 Crowns, Harptones), James "Papa" Clark (5 Crowns), Wilbur "Yonkie" Paul (5 Crowns), Harold "Sonny" Wright (Diamonds), Franklin Peaker (Bluenotes), Eddie Williams (Aladdins), Jerry Butler (Impressions), Homer Dunn (Rivieras), Margo Sylvia (Tune Weavers), Jackie Rue (5 Wings), George Tindley (Dreams), Ron Miles (Rainbows), and Tommy Hunt (Flamingos). However, since the whole point of this exercise (from my point of view) was to come up with a cheap way of getting a topic for one of my shows, I honestly don't think any of those fine singers would have made it to the top 19 (and I just coincidentally happen to play 19 songs per show). That isn't an excuse for leaving them off, though.

I am, frankly, suprised at some of the results. For example, not a single vote for Jimmy Nabbie of the 4 Tunes or Scott King of the Shadows? Only one vote for Charles Sutton of the Royals. Jimmy McGowan and Arthur Lee Maye had pretty poor showings, as did Cleve Duncan, Al Banks, Ernie Lee Warren, and John Jordan. Oh well, sic transit gloria mundi ("Hey, Gloria, the subway's broken down again").

And now, without too much further delay: THE RESULTS (Ta-Da!)

I assigned a weight to each vote - 10 points for #1; 9 points for #2; etc.
